Creating Collaborative Classrooms
DESCRIPTION:
Two of the key competencies within the Revised Curriculum require students to participate and relate to others. How do we develop these competencies within our learners? When is the right time to use them? What can we use? How might they be used within an Inquiry approach?
COURSE CONTENT:
This interactive workshop will guide you through an Inquiry-based approach which incorporates a range of collaborative learning structures that you can easily apply within your own class situations. It will cover:
Research information around collaborative learning;
“Ramping-up” to Collaborative learning with our students;
Identifying times that exploit their optimal use within lessons;
A variety of collaborative learning structures to put into action;
Application of a variety of collaborative learning structures within a brief Inquiry;
Sharing of exemplars from working classrooms;
Time to develop a lesson that trials some new collaborative learning structures.
